Who is he?
A 36 year old Belgian Police-inspector, born in Belgium and still living in Belgium, together with his wife Nicole and two daughters; Ellen and Lara. Besides paddling rivers across the world, Steven loves to collect old kayak-publications, travelling and being outdoor.
He was a member of the Belgian downriver-team, participating in several world championships. Started boating at the age of 6 and went paddling in almost every continent (no Oceania yet)

2004 personal highlights:

- 3 weeks of paddling in Ecuador: In February I went paddling in Ecuador, together with some of my Belgian friends and French friends, Les Caskaboulons. We paddled rivers in the Tena and Quichos area and explored some rivers around Banos. The Rio Topo was the absolute top river during our trip. Another challenge during our trip were the 75 cl cooled beers.
- Norway: In july I drove my old Traffic to Norway where I went paddling rivers like the Rauma, Ulva, Finna and Songdalselva, and many more All beautiful rivers in an amazing scenery. Unfortunately the beer here was very expensive.
- A one week mini-trip to the Pyrenees, where we were lucky to find enough, much and too much water.

Favourite rivers:

Note: I like all rivers, all rivers have their own character
- Grand Canyon of the Colorado River
- Tro Marêts and Hoegne (Belgium)
- Veneon
- Narrows of the Green
- Rio Colca and Cotahuasi in Peru

Favourite boats:

- TOPO: my roots in x-treme paddling
- SALTO: big volume all-rounder
- XENO: even for a tall guy like me (1m90)

2005 planning:

Due to a shoulder injury I’m planning to take surgery first. Once I’ll be able to paddle again, I’ll buy my plane-ticket.
Probably I’ll be boating this summer in Norway again, and in fall I hope to head to South-America again, Peru would be nice.
